Changes at the House Of Help

Attention Change in our Services

Starting November 2015,

House of Help Food Pantry will change from

Two food give outs a month to ONE.

The bottom line is expenses and families served continue to increase while funds, community support and volunteers do not. Just like you, we have a budget. Sometimes when costs increase, you have to cut back and make changes where you can so you can pay your bills. We have to do the same thing. We are making changes in ALL areas, including cutting our grocery give outs to one time per month per family.

Our Thrift Shop sales donated items to the public so, we have funds to pay our bills and purchase the food we give YOU.  We need the support from all areas of our community. With our current workload we are feeding over 387 families a month, which equals to 1,092 people. That means over 11,000 pounds of food is purchased, picked up and brought into the pantry each month; a lot of work.

We have not been getting the support from the community that will allow us to continue to provide the level of assistance you have been receiving. So, we have had to make changes to allow us to continue to provide you with assistance at any level that we can supported both with Volunteers and Funds.

If in the future, we are able to receive the community and Church support we need, plus an increase in Volunteers, we will relook at maybe assisting with two grocery give outs. However, in order to do this, we need YOUR help in spreading the word and making the Hempstead Community aware of our needs, what the House of Help is doing and how this Ministry is providing assistance through our Food Pantry, Thrift Shop and various services through our Resource Center to you and our Neighbors.

Starting in November, you will be allowed to come only ONE time each Month for Groceries.
