House Of Help Grocery Cart Chatter For July:
So far this month our Grocery Cart has rolled out the door 245 times serving 734 individuals.

Yes, the Food Pantry is open the first, second, third and fourth Tuesday and Saturday of every month from 10 AM–3:30 PM.

Yes, we do get food from the Houston Food Bank. No, the food we obtain from the HFB is NOT FREE.

Yes, we do purchase food at a discount from the HFB. Items are available on a first come first serve basis. Choices vary depending on what the HFB currently has on their shelves at the time we place our order.

Yes, we make the trip about once a week to the Houston Food Bank to pick up food; out I-10 East other side of Houston pass the Budweiser Plant. The truck we have to use gets an average of 10 miles per gallon; Gas Cards appreciated to cover fuel.

No, the HFB does not carry everything that our families use and eat for their day to day living.

Yes, we do BARGIN shop at grocery stores to meet the diverse needs of our Clients.

Yes, food donations and food drives are important; especially Monetary donations as this makes it possible for us to purchase what is needed for the Clients at any given time.

PLEASE CHECK Expiration Dates before donating Food Items or anything to us that has an Expiration Date. It makes us sad when we have to throw things away instead of giving them out.

Yes, we are in need of Tuna Fish, any can Meat Products, Cheerio’s type cereal, Toilet Paper, Bath Soap, Toothpaste, and school supplies.

HOH announces “School Preparation Month”. August will have our focus on families getting their children ready for school. We will give out school supplies as they become available. All our BOOKS will be on Sale for 10 cents each.

NO TAX on School Clothes when you shop with us on Saturday, August 10th from 10 AM – 4 PM. Thrift Shop is located at the corner of 1st Street and FM 1488, look for the Shopping Cart on top of our sign, Shop open Tuesday-Saturday 10-4PM. Phone 979-826-4445

We are a non-profit Outreach Community Ministry serving those that live within the Hempstead ISD boundaries.
