GROCERY CART CHATTERS JAN. 2017

GROCERY CART CHATTERS JAN. 2017

Happy New Year……we hope Jan. has started off with good health and bright future for everyone. Our weather has been on a roller coaster with unusual warm and freezing temperatures. We experienced three broken pipes at the HOH. Tim had to cut the floor inside so he could do the repairs. Repairs done and we move forward into 2017.

In 2016 we saw, and have made additional arrangements for 2017, for the Houston Food Bank Mobil Truck to come once a month and bring FREE fruit, vegetables and other items to our Community. This is a FREE SERVICE for everyone, no qualifying. Remember to bring your own boxes and bags.

NOVEMBER saw HOH Volunteer’s, with the help of the Women’s Club of Waller and members of the Brazos Valley 4-H group and their parents, serving a Thanksgiving meal to about 100 families, dining in and carry-out, from the Masonic Lodge in Hempstead. Great cooks, wonderful service, great time; THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE!

DECEMBER, brought, local and out of town members of my own family, various youth, adult and other non-profit organizations, as well as individual volunteers all together in the Christmas Spirit. We received donated toys, partnered with Toys For Tots, worked to build Santa’s Workshop and served 458 children with requested toys, hats, and gloves, for Mom too, in addition to kids coats that were donated by our local Knights of Columbus Council # 12672 from St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Hempstead. THANK-YOU TO ALL SANTA’S ELVES!

YOUR Organization and Individual BLESSINGS, of Monetary donations, made it possible this past year for HOH to provide requested shoes and socks to some of our children for Christmas. A stove went to a single Mom and her children so, she had means to cook, electric heaters to three families that had no means of heat in their homes, plumbing supplies for seniors so, they could have water in their home, a tank of Gas for a single Mom and a Dad so, they could get to their new jobs.  Baby supplies and various items, medical supplies and equipment, plus blankets, pillows and bedding went to individuals and families that had none. WOW!  WHAT WONDERFUL BLESSINGS WE SHARED

House of Help Hempstead is more than just your local Food Pantry.  Not just at Christmas, but ALL yearlong, 365 days, whenever we are Blessed with Monetary Donations, and funds are available, YOU make it possible for us to help those in need in so many positive and different ways than just providing food from our Pantry.

As each of you have offered us your prayers, donations and continued support, I pray that whatever you are going through or wherever you might be in your life, that healing in body, mind and spirit be always with you. May each of you be Blessed, as you Bless Us. Ms. Sid and all the House of Help Volunteers
